Lawrie
Minson
Four times Golden Guitar winner Lawrie Minson celebrates
25 years on the road this year and what an incredible trip it’s
been!
From the legendary Buddy Williams Show, playing
dobro, lead guitar, banjo and pedal steel guitar through the outback
communities of Australia to the stage of Nashville’s
Grand Ole Opry, playing didgeridoo with Keith Urban
and Slim Dusty, you could say that Lawrie Minson is the
right hand man for some of the biggest names in the entertainment
business.
Lawrie has a long traditional musical heritage. He is the son of
another legend, John Minson ‘Mr Hoedown’(
John’s night time radio program ‘Hoedown’ was
broadcast from 2TM Tamworth NSW and launched the careers of many
of our top country music artists. He also taught Lawrie how to play
boogie woogie piano!).
Lawrie’s playing also graces the recordings of John
Williamson, Gina Jeffreys, The Wheel, Smoky Dawson, Troy Cassar-Daley,
Colin Buchanan and more than 20 Slim Dusty albums
including the final Columbia Lane recordings.
He has toured with US superstar Trisha Yearwood
and has recently produced ‘Cowboy at Heart’ for India’s
Bobby Cash. He is also a judge and co-ordinator of the
Golden Harmonica Championships held in January
at Tamworth.
Lawrie MINSON hails from Tamworth, New South Wales,
the home of Country Music in Australia. He has been a professional
musician for more than 20 years and has toured and recorded with
a list of artists that reads like a who’s who of the Australian
music industry including Jimmy Barnes, Ross Wilson, Troy
Cassar-Daley and James Blundell. He currently plays with
Australia’s biggest Country Music superstar Lee Kernaghan.
